Internal Grinding Tools Solid Carbide

Manufactured from a harder, fine grain carbide, promoting longer life, these tools are designed for internal grinding operations in hardened steel up to 65Rc. Their inherent advantages over mounted points in rigidity and life enable tolerances of 0.0002” to be maintained if the following advice is followed. Select a tool approximately 75% of the hole diameter being ground. Softer materials should accept a depth of cut of 0.003” to 0.005” whilst harder materials require perhaps one tenth of these figures. The tools are desined for right hand rotation of 500-1500 SFPM and best results will be obtained with left hand work piece rotation one hundredth of tool spindle speed. the tools, designed with a slight back taper should be fed in and out of the bore at feed rates varying from 4 to 8 IPM for softer materials and 2 to 4 IPM for harder steels. Feed marks indicate too high a feed rate.
